Evil Trees
Track a roaming world event, help it grow, cut it down, burn kindling, and earn Woodcutting rewards.
Guide verified 2026-07-12
Quick start
Watch for the world broadcast, then use any Spirit Tree and choose "Any Evil Trees?" for a location hint. A grown tree also offers travel near the event.
- Bring your best usable axe and a tinderbox.
- Nurture the sapling if you meet its Farming requirement.
- At the grown tree, chop the trunk or roots to collect kindling.
- Burn kindling beside the tree for strong contribution and faster event progress.
- After it falls, claim once from the fallen tree or woodland caretaker.
How the event works
Nurture the sapling
No tool or material is needed. Successful nurturing gives Farming XP, contribution, and speeds up the five growth stages.
Chop the tree
Use an axe on the trunk for the best Woodcutting XP and contribution. Roots give less contribution but can still provide kindling.
Burn kindling
Use Evil Tree kindling with a tinderbox beside the tree. Each credited side gives Firemaking XP and eight contribution points.
Claim rewards
Reach at least ten contribution points, stay near the fallen tree, and claim once before the reward window closes.
Requirements and maximum rewards
Rewards scale from 10 to 200 contribution points. The values below are the maximum logs and coins at full contribution.
| Species | Farming | Woodcutting | Firemaking | Maximum logs | Maximum coins |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 1 | 1 | 1 | 24 normal | 370 |
| Oak | 7 | 15 | 15 | 48 oak | 652 |
| Willow | 15 | 30 | 30 | 96 willow | 1,200 |
| Maple | 22 | 45 | 45 | 72 maple | 1,600 |
| Yew | 30 | 60 | 60 | 34 yew | 3,000 |
| Magic | 37 | 75 | 75 | 20 magic | 6,000 |
| Elder | 42 | 85 | 85 | 28 redwood | 9,000 |
Contribution and rewards
Nurturing gives 1 point, chopping roots gives 1 point, chopping the trunk gives 2 points, and a credited kindling fire gives 8 points. Contribution is capped at 200 per event.
At maximum contribution, the reward also includes four kindling and a 30-minute effect that makes ordinary Woodcutting logs arrive noted.
- You can collect up to 200 pieces of event kindling from successful chopping during one event.
- Use Inspect to check the tree requirement, event health, stage, and your contribution.
- A growing root may shove nearby players away, so be ready to reposition.
Event locations
Species are random and locations rotate in shuffled order. The Spirit Tree hint is the fastest way to identify the active location.
- South of Seers' Village
- South-east of Rimmington
- North of Falador
- West of Catherby
- Near Seers' Village bank
- Near the Legends' Guild
- Near Draynor Village
- Inside the Gnome Stronghold
- West of Falador
- Near Edgeville
- Near Yanille
Event timing
Events are scheduled about every two hours. A sapling grows naturally after roughly 25 minutes, while nurturing can speed it up. A grown tree falls after about 45 minutes if players do not defeat it sooner.
Restarts and failed-spawn retries can shift the visible schedule, so treat the Spirit Tree estimate as the current authority.
